SMEC: Proudly supporting the Hunter Region and Central Coast
SMEC’s origins date back to the iconic Snowy Mountains Hydroelectric Scheme in 1949 and we have proudly operated in our Newcastle office in Hunter Street since 2010.
SMEC has recently joined forces with Surbana Jurong to provide global consultancy expertise in urban, infrastructure and management advisory. Our new partnership provides a talent pool of 13,000 dedicated people working across a network of over 110 offices in more than 40 countries throughout Asia, Australasia, the Middle East, Africa and the Americas.
SMEC began operations from its Hunter Regional Office in Newcastle in 2010.  The office provides services in the transport, urban development, structures, mining, water resources and water infrastructure sectors.
SMEC’s employees in the Newcastle office are specialists in their fields and many have worked in the Hunter region for decades, bringing a wealth of experience and local knowledge to benefit clients. Our Newcastle office currently has more than 35 employees.
At SMEC and Surbana Jurong, we are proud of our reputation for delivering major projects across diverse industries and together, we continually strive for a culture of collaboration and innovation with our partners, suppliers and the communities in which we work.
